Summer dreams in Queen Anne’s Lace

24 x 24 Acrylic and resin on gallery wood support

There is something about Queen Anne’s Lace that brings back memories of childhood hot summer days that seemed to stretch far longer than the length of the school break. This painting has a dreamy quality of wildflowers moving in the warm breeze. It’s a new addition and available at Windsor’s Courtyard in Merrickville, Ontario.

Northern Nights

On a clear cold night you may witness the aurora over Yellowknife. Wondering if they’ll show tonight? I’ve been working on this 24 x 24 acrylic and silver leaf on wood. The lights continue to inspire and amaze me. This original painting (acrylic, silver leaf and resin on wood) is available at Visual Effects in Yellowknife.

Aurora paintings

I walked out on the lake on New Year’s Eve to find myself standing under a vivid aurora. It made me feel very fortunate, peaceful and inspired. The painting began the next day and six small originals (6 x 6 inches) and have been completed displaying lots of light play and resined with a high gloss topcoat and delivered to Down to Earth Gallery and Visual Effects.

Keeping warm in the North

I’m working on a painting of a tree bursting with warm fall colours of burned red, gold and umber. It feels like -33 C with the wind chill here in Yellowknife and today there is no place I’d rather be than inside. I’m feeling some big artistic changes coming and I’m going to take this long winter of ours to explore a new creative direction. With some experimentation and hopefully interesting growth over the next few months, I’ll be ready to welcome Spring with a fresh offering of original art.Image

falling leaves

A new painting of falling leaves. I’m looking forward to participating in a couple of art shows coming up. The Anonymous Art Show is on at Down to Earth Gallery, Yellowknife from Oct 30 – Nov 1 and Freeze-Up will be happening Nov 15 at the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre also in Yellowknife.

A fresh new series of little originals are en route to Visual Effects and Down to Earth Gallery in Yellowknife. Northern trees against an aurora filled sky are inspired by the awe I’ve felt standing under the dancing night sky.

Each 6 x 6 inch painting is created on wood with a 1.5 inch profile. I’ve used silver leaf, acrylics and a resin topcoat to create light effects in each one of a kind piece.

Aurora brightens the Yellowknife night sky

I’ve been roaming around at night. It’s not insomnia it the aurora effect. Are they going to show? How cloudy is it? A few evenings ago the sky above Yellowknife looked like it was supporting some wonderful cosmic lava lamp. I saw a vortex of light two nights ago. Incredible. My artwork can’t recreate mother nature’s glory but these whimsical paintings are so much fun to do I can’t help myself.
